Ljubljana enjoys a central position, making it the ideal base for exploring the rest of Slovenia. A crossroads, you can see Central Europe in the city's architecture, language, and half of its cuisine and the Mediterranean and Balkans in its traditions and the other half of its delicacies. You can see this in the city's café culture. People are often surprised by how westernized and advanced Slovenia is. It's more in a class with its Austrian neighbors than its Eastern European counterparts.
City of Delights. A vibrant city full of surprises, Ljubljana has all the advantages of a modern capital, combined with small town friendliness.

What we love about Ljubljana
Sales Executive
You wouldn't know Ljubljana is the capital city of Slovenia by its quaint streets, canals, and friendly locals, but this town does not fail to disappoint. With its top-rated restaurants, busy nightlife, and beautifully lit streets, I would definitely recommend spending a few days in Ljubljana to take in everything the capital has to offer.

Definitely on my list of favorite European capitals. With its colorful buildings, cute narrow streets, amazing art, and sculptures around the town and beautiful Ljubljanica river that winds its way through the city center... Ljubljana is the most beautiful city in spring and summer and there is nothing better than catching a spot in one of the cool bars next to the river and enjoying the beauty of this city.

Real beauty, Ljubljana is one of the smallest and greenest of Europe's capital. It is recognized for its environmental conscience; it is clean, safe, and friendly. Although compact enough to walk your way around, Ljubljana is a bicycle-friendly city so you can enjoy it both ways. Explore its impeccable historic old town and completely opposite, artistic Metelkova street, check out what's hiding behind a dragon - the most recognizable symbol of Ljubljana, climb up Ljubljana Castle, have a coffee in one of the cafes next to Ljubljanica river and don't forget to spare some time for chilling in Tivoli park.

How can I get around Ljubljana?
Ljubljana is a small city and unless you need to visit somewhere outside of the city centre, you can manage easily without using public transport. Watch out for cyclists, even on the sidewalks and the pathway along by the river.
If you need to take a cab, always check the rate before you get in. Radio car companies usually have better rates. We provide our guests with a list of useful numbers as part of our destination info pack.
If you want to take a local bus in the city, buy an Urbana Card. You can get it at machines located at bus stops, as well as tourist information centers, kiosks, newsstands, some gas stations, post offices, and shopping centers, and anywhere else with the Urbana logo. An Urbana Card can be loaded with credit. A journey within the city center (zone one) costs €1.30, and a ticket is is valid for 90 minutes. Tickets cannot be bought from drivers.
If you have difficulty walking, you can also ride the city's free Kavalir electric vehicles. Akin to large golf carts, these vehicles cover the major landmarks of the city's pedestrian zone, can carry up to five passengers, and can be flagged down and boarded, due to their low speeds.
