Where to stay in Prague

What we love about Prague
Operations Training Specialist
I love Prague because it's quite similar to Budapest. It's definitely smaller, but offers everything you might need in a capital. My personal favourite part of Prague, which I discovered totally randomly, is a street basketball and football court quite close to Letna Park and the river. While I was sitting there, I had the feeling I was at home, quite a good feeling!
Trip Planning & Local Teams Specialist
From the first moment, this city just felt right. Strikingly beautiful and welcoming, Prague has nothing pretentious at all. It offers a lot, not asking much in return, and feels like home. It's my favorite city!
Trip Planner
I fell in love with Prague the moment I set foot in the city for the very first time. There are so many fantastic places worth discovering, and with the numerous things going on at all times, the word "boredom" is simply not a part of my vocabulary when there. I particularly enjoy the number of jazz clubs spread around the city - you can catch a concert (almost) any night of the year!

Frequently Asked Questions about travel to Prague
How long should I stay in Prague?
The minimum length of the stay in Prague we recommend is 3 nights, so you can explore Prague with a private walking tour, and take advantage of Prague's great potential for day trips, such as to Kutna Hora and Terezin. Within Prague itself, tours of the storied Jewish district are popular, among Jews and gentiles alike, as that section of the Old Town is home to many of the city's legends and some of its most memorable architecture. Prague Castle is the world's largest castle complex, home to many museums. Even beyond the Old Town, the city has much to offer, from laid-back neighborhoods popular with locals to memorable architecture and the remains of a much earlier castle at the Vysehrad fortress.
When's the best time to visit Prague?
Prague is a beautiful and interesting place all year round, and each season has its advantages, such as Christmas markets and mulled wine in winter, or lazy days soaking up the summer sun and enjoying a cold one in the city's beer gardens. If you don't want to be too cold or hot, and want to do a lot of wandering, come for the "shoulder months" of April, May, September, and October. Spring brings Easter markets to the main squares and fall naturally brings its own special colors, while both are less busy than summer.
Is Prague safe?
Prague is safe, with practically no violent crime, but as with any big city, be careful with your personal belongings such as backpacks and purses while in crowded areas.
Where should I change money?
As with anywhere, don't change money in the street, even if you're promised a good deal. It's generally best to take out money from the ATMs located within bank entrances, but we can recommend decent places to change money, as can hotel staff.
How do I get around Prague?
The accommodations we offer are in or adjacent to Prague's Old Town, so most of the city's top sights are within walking distance. Prague's taxis have a poor reputation due to a few bad apples so we recommend using a taxi app; Uber and Bolt work in Prague, but the local app, Liftago, has better quality cars and drivers. but the public transportation is fast, cheap, and reliable. A 90-minute ticket costs 40Kc (about $2) and a 24-hour ticket costs 120Kc (about $6). You can find the official trip planner here. Prague's subway network has a unique aesthetic and many beautiful stations. One of Prague's little curiosities is the funicular railway from Ujezd in Mala Strana to the top of Petrin Hill, but ferries across the river are also covered by regular tickets. Public transport tickets are available from newsagents, at booths in metro stations, or from machines located in metro stations and at some tram and bus stops. Some machines only take coins, but all trams now have a machine for cards.
Does Prague have vegetarian restaurants?
While traditional Czech cuisine is known for its meat dishes, you'll hardly go hungry in Prague if you're a vegetarian or vegan. Read our Eating Vegetarian in Prague article for details.
Where can I try legendary Czech beers?
You'll be able to get a crisp draft Czech beer pretty much everywhere, at any time of day, but Prague's beer scene has exploded with excellent microbreweries. Your JayWay Guest Page and recommendations from your local contact will make sure you taste the best of Prague.
