Poland's capital and largest city, Warsaw has risen like a phoenix from the ashes of its near-total destruction during and after its uprisings during World War II to become an impressive artistic and historic center. The Old Town's reconstruction from historic materials makes it the only place on the UNESCO World Heritage List to have been entirely rebuilt after WWII.
While Warsaw is proud of Chopin, its art scene doesn't stop with this beloved native son. With many theaters, cinemas, museums, festivals, and galleries, not to mention the giant Palace of Culture and Science, Warsaw has the artsy scene you'd expect of a major capital. This sprawling metropolis has neighborhoods with distinctly different atmospheres, so it's worth venturing beyond the very center in search of the city's Jewish, communist, royal, and WWII-era periods. If you'd rather focus on food, you'll never find yourself hungry for long. When you’re ready to go farther afield, the region surrounding Warsaw offers gorgeous lakes, castles and other notable cities and towns, such as Lodz and Kazimierz Dolny

What we love about Warsaw
Operations Executive
If you seek pure human emotion and authentic gastronomy experiences you should visit Warsaw. Even though it isn't one of the most appealing European capitals, Warsaw has a lot more to offer than it seems at first glance. Try to imagine a town that was turned to dust, a town where every single person was repelled from their home......and then imagine the town that was completely rebuilt from scratch thanks to the love of its citizens who were persistent enough to build the same city core as it was before WWII. In order to understand the complexity of Warsaw, you should definitely visit the Uprising museum. To me, it evokes some very strong emotions. But Warsaw is not only about history. The city has a strong community that looks forward. Copernicus Science Center will awaken a child inside of you, it is a completely interactive experience. I am so happy that I had a chance to fully understand and experience Warsaw.

Warsaw was one of the cities that I didn't fall in love at first sight I must admit. It was love at second sight :) One of the things that always fascinates me and makes me feel a deeper appreciation for this city is how the Polish people, after the War, rebuilt the old part of the city according to Bellotto's paintings - really wow! Walking around the city, enjoying Chopin's compositions that comes out from the smart benches... I am a huge fan of museums in Warsaw, Chopin's museum and the Copernicus science centre are a must when visiting Warsaw.

Warsaw is still struggling with the reputation of a more business city, not very attractive to visitors. The fact is that almost the entire area was destroyed during World War II, so it makes sense that some time was needed to getting back on their feet, and to be honest, you'll be surprised how well this job was done! The Varsovians themselves, who are in this case their own harshest critics, admit that their city has grown enormously over the years, and now it is considered a place that can not be missed during a visit to this part of Europe!
