Located in a beautiful valley between the mountains of Herzegovina, Mostar is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Mostar is sure to be one of the most unique places you'll visit in Europe. Travelers know Mostar for its dwellings and monuments assembled over centuries. The most famous landmark in Mostar is the Ottoman stone bridge. It connects the city over the Neretva River. Nearly half of Mostar's population is Muslim, and its Islamic heritage is clear throughout the city, with its bazaars, Turkish House, tea houses, and mosques.
The city where West meets East meets North meets South.
Mostar is a city of poetry, stone, and of sleepy, narrow, winding streets.
The effects of the Yugoslavian wars of the '90s are evident throughout the city. Mostar was the most heavily bombed city in Bosnia. Croat forces destroyed the famous stone bridge in 1993. The government rebuilt it in 2004 and it gained UNESCO World Heritage List status in 2005. A museum near the bridge houses photos that serve as chilling reminders of how much Mostar suffered in recent years. One highlight of any visit is watching local men dive off the bridge into the green waters. You'll find Bosnia a bargain. Bazaars selling inexpensive local souvenirs such as jewelry, ceramics, and scarves line Mostar's streets.
Spend some time in Mostar on a tour that takes in other cities in Bosnia & Herzegovina and neighboring countries. Our custom tour packages including Mostar and other destinations throughout Bosnia & Herzegovina and Europe make multi-city trips hassle-free. Mostar is best seen with a local guide as it is a city rich in history and culture. We're glad to arrange private guide services so you can enjoy a walking tour of this one-of-a-kind city. Often we suggest Mostar as a day trip from Dubrovnik but if you want to further explore the regions of Bosnia or spend more time in the city than a day trip allows, Mostar should be at the top of your list as an overnight destination. The Mostar is quite compact, but offers a lot for its size. Highlights of any visit include the famous old bridge which historically linked the two sides of the town, Turkish House, and the Old Bazaar.

From our team
Despite being so close to the Mediterranean cities of Dubrovnik and Split, Mostar is culturally very different. The strong Ottoman influences will make you feel like you've suddenly arrived in the Middle East.
From very first sight, Mostar seemed beautiful and exotic to me. An amazing blend of nature and architecture, and place where East meets West, the town offers the best of both worlds. Don't miss it.
I love Mostar because it has little bit of everything, and is a perfect blend of Christian and Muslim heritage. My birthplace, and the home of my very earliest memories, it's a charming and unusual city that leaves an impression on each visitor that passes through it. While the city is not big, it does have everything you need for a great, relaxing vacation. Having different cultures, nationalities and religions so close together makes Mostar Bosnia's cultural melting pot, and a unique community.
