Belgrade is known for its warm-hearted people, turbulent history and fantastic nightlife. Before the fall of Yugoslavia, Belgrade was the capital of the most advanced country in the Eastern Bloc. Most of the locals speak English, good service is the norm, and there is a generally positive attitude. The city sits at the confluence of Austrian and Ottoman styles, and of the Danube and Sava rivers. On the surface Belgrade is not the most pleasing to the eye, but the interiors of the restaurants, bars, cafes and clubs certainly make up for this. There are unique and diverse settings full of atmosphere and character throughout the city.
"The White City."
Belgrade is one of Europe's oldest and most memorable destinations.
The nightlife in Belgrade is legendary. It can certainly compete with the best in Europe. The city is full of beautiful people and has a Mediterranean atmosphere evident in its cafe culture. Serbs are very proud of their food, with a rich cuisine consisting of grilled meats, local cheese, and produce. Belgrade was bombed by NATO in the 90s, as strikingly evident by the military headquarters left in ruins in the center. Tourism here is less developed than in neighboring Croatia or Hungary, but Belgrade is an energetic city rediscovering its tourist potential. What the city lacks in polish it makes up for with its authenticity and genuine hospitality.

Where to stay in Belgrade

What we love about Belgrade
Team Leader for Greece & Turkey
Belgrade has a special part in my heart. I was born here and my grandparents lived here so I spent a big part of my childhood in Belgrade. I could walk around the city for hours, from Zemun with its cobbled streets and cute houses, cute little bars and pubs (this is also where I had my first beer ever) to the city centre - Kalemegdan park with amazing views and finishing with a cup of traditional Turkish style coffee in Question Mark tavern. One thing that I always liked in Belgrade were farmer markets - I could spend hours here, enjoying the flavours and colours of the stands... And the vibe of the city is something I always loved - I can't explain this, you just have to feel it :)

Belgrade will surprise you in many ways. Beautiful and messy at the same time, Belgrade is a town with a lot of character. I like all about Belgrade, busy streets, splendid views over Sava and Danube rivers, loud hosts, and exceptional gastronomy.
