Custom tour packagesSutivan
Calm and quiet, humble Sutivan is far from Croatia's crowds. This traditional village is convenient, a ten-minute drive from the island of Brac's main town and ferry port (Supetar), but seems a world away (or at least a few centuries removed). With fewer than 1,000 inhabitants, there are restaurants and shops, but few visitors disturbing the crystal clear waters of the village's harbor or neighboring beaches. Founded at the same time as Split by one of the Roman Emperor Diocletian's followers, the village is ancient, and still has Venetian fortifications built to defend the town from marauders during Venice's many wars against Turks. Since its founding, peaceful Sutivan has attracted the wealthy, as evidenced by its baroque summer mansions and renaissance palaces, alongside typical white stone homes.
An oasis of tradition and quiet
With its vineyards, olive groves, natural park, and citrus orchards, Sutivan's surroundings reward hikers and bikers. Those looking to stay more active have the entire island to explore. Famous for its natural beauty, Brac features the archipelago's highest mountain, VIdova. From its cliffs and summit, you'll find breathtaking views not just of nearby islands and the mainland, but the Golden Horn. A thin strip of sand extending nearly half a kilometer into the sea, it's ideal for sunbathing and swimming. The island's long coastline is ideal for anything from sunbathing and swimming to windsurfing, diving, or excursions to other islands.
