There’s more than enough to keep you entertained on Lake Como, whether you’re looking to rub elbows with the stars, explore the history, or just enjoy some relaxation. The town of Como is a great place to start, with its charming historic center. We recommend taking the funicular up the hill to Brunate, a quaint village with extraordinary views over the lake. And, since silk making is one of the most traditional trades on Lake Como, the Educational Silk Museum is definitely worth a visit.
Lake Como is known for its splendid villas, which are owned by prominent local families and international stars. You’ll recognize some of the buildings and the scenery from films like Ocean’s Twelve. You can take ferries - or rent a private boat - to explore these beautiful examples of architecture all along the lake. Alternatively, you can explore the lake's treasures on a private driving tour from Como. Thanks to its excellent location, Como is also the ideal base from where to visit Lake Maggiore, Milan, and Lugano on private day trips, while you can also go hiking in the gorgeous countryside or enjoy a scenic train ride across the Alps on the iconic Bernina Express.
