Where to Wander on Day One?
It can be hard to decide how to spend your first hours in Berlin, since the city offers so much for every personal preference. If you’d like to see the city’s more artistic and hip side, we recommend focusing on the district of Kreuzberg, southeast of the city’s Mitte (“middle”) district. If you’d prefer to stay within walking distance of your hotel, we suggest focusing on the area around Hackescher Markt, north of Museum Island, or heading to Alexanderplatz, where you’ll find the city’s best view from atop its signature TV tower. Day 3 - Your Second Full Day in Berlin
Berlin's Role in WWII
Berlin has become a center of memorializing WWII, especially at the memorial to Jewish victims of the Holocaust, or the Reichstag building. If you have a bit more time, visit the German History Museum, or the Topography of Terror, located at the former SS/Gestapo headquarters, Sitting right next to one of the longest remaining segments of the Berlin Wall, by Checkpoint Charlie, this sobering museum is especially effective in showing the rise of Nazism, and its very earliest days in power.
Third Reich Group Walking Tour
Explore sites connected to Berlin's darkest period, learning about the rise and fall of the Third Reich. An expert local guide will point out reminders of the final Soviet attack on the city's core, including the fighting for the Reichstag. You will then visit the site where Hitler's bunker was once located, and many other places connected to the Nazi regime and its horrors, learning about the lives of the city's people, those who aided and resisted the regime, as you go.

Potsdam, City of Kings: 6-hour Private Walking Tour
Potsdam was a city of kings – a German Versaille where the Hohenzollern monarchy of Prussia constructed lavish palaces in which they could spend their summers. It was also the setting for the Potsdam Conference, where geopolitical giants Josef Stalin, Harry Truman and Winston Churchill met in the summer of 1945 to seal the post-war fate of Germany and Europe. This 6-hour walking tour takes you to the heart of Potsdam’s UNESCO-listed palace gardens to see the pomp and grandeur of the Prussian monarchy and also explores the origins of the Cold War.

Day 4 - Traveling to Nuremberg by Train
Today you will say goodbye to Berlin and hello to Nuremberg. You will travel by train, which is a very popular and economical means of transportation in Germany. The train ride takes around 3 hours 30 minutes and we will make a reservation for you in second class. Should you prefer an upgrade to 1st class, we can arrange that for a small additional fee. We will also have a driver to pick you up at your accommodation and take you to the train station.

Nuremberg in northern Bavaria is famous for its well-preserved medieval architecture and delicious local food. Head to the Old Town to see its houses, stone towers, and fortifications, and to marvel at the Schöner Brunnen ("Beautiful Fountain") located in the "Hauptmarkt" main square. Kaiserburg castle is the most famous place to visit here, with its impressive insight into the city's history. But, there is so much more to Nuremberg; this is a lively modern city with lots of interesting museums, different festivals and events and a great variety of international cuisine. Even among Germans, the city is known for its beer, sausages, and gingerbread, so come hungry!

Upon arrival at the train station, we will arrange for a driver to pick you up and take you to your accommodation.
Climb the Castle Hill
After getting settled, we recommend ascending through the city to the imposing castle at one end of the historic center. The castle and the neighboring city walls are considered one of the most imposing medieval fortifications in Europe, while the castle itself offers the best view of the city and its preserved center. Be sure to check out the castle gardens, a quiet retreat from the bustle of the city.

Day 5 - Your First Full Day in Nuremberg
Nuremberg Old Town & Nazi Party Rally Grounds Private Tour
This four-hour tour will give you deep insight into the prosperous city of Nuremberg. The city provided the ideal foundation for cultural and intellectual life and was a center of economic activity. Even today numerous buildings and monuments reflect its former place within the Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation. After the old town you will dive into World War II history. With an expert local guide you'll tour the Nazi Rally Grounds and the court where the infamous Nuremberg trials took place. Day 6 - Traveling to Rothenburg by Private Transfer
Today you will leave Nuremberg and head to Rothenburg. Based on your preferred travel time a driver will pick you up at your accommodations in Nuremberg. This transfer includes a 3-hour stop on the Romantic Road. You can choose to spend your free time in Dinkelsbühl, the little sister of Rothenburg or share the three hours between two cities. The other sight is Nördlingen, a charming small town surrounded by a medieval wall where you can walk along. Please note that this is a non-guided transfer.

Get the Best First Impression
One of the most popular activities in Rothenburg is to spend half an hour or so walking atop the old town’s preserved walls between its gates (or “Tors”). This fascinating and scenic walk is best started from the Spitaltor, a massive gatehouse built in the 1500s, then heading toward the equally stunning Rödertor, stopping along the way to enjoy the views. The next leg leads to the Klingentor and the 15th-century St. Wolfgang's Church. In all there are 42 gatehouses and towers, so be sure to allow enough time to see as many as possible along your walking tour. For the town’s best view, visit the park behind the Burg Tower.

If you can't study something at Heidelberg, it doesn't exist. But even if you're not there to join the students who make up 1/4 of Heidelberg's population, there's plenty to do. The massive hilltop Heidelberg Castle is at the top of your list, and the valley the castle sits within offers plenty of great places to take it in before you enter the castle itself. The Baroque Old Town is great for a stroll, with a stop or two in its cozy cafes along the way, as are its medieval university buildings. Many of Heidelberg's best views can be found from the Philosophers' Walk across the river from the city center, trod upon by centuries of thinkers.

Enjoy Local Brews
A pub crawl is ideal for experiencing Frankfurt’s vibrant nightlife. Germany's may be famous for beers, but don't miss out on Frankfurts speciality: Apfelwein. This sour hard cider is everywhere in Frankfurt and its surroundings (you can drink it "pure," but many order it mixed with sparkling water or carbonated lemonade to reduce the sourness). To head from bar to bar, visit Schweizer Strasse in Old Sachsenhausen. This tree-line commercial street houses plenty of pubs and taverns that brew their own Apfelwein, but naturally offer plenty of local beers and wines as well.
