1. Day 1 Arrival in Zagreb

   Zagreb is a city where different worlds have long come together. Situated at the intersection of ancient trade routes between the Adriatic and Central Europe, it is a cosmopolitan place with various cultural influences evident in the cuisine and architecture at home in any Austro-Hungarian city. You’ll love exploring the open-air markets, impressive buildings, peaceful parks, and many delicious restaurants. Just strolling through the unique combination of medieval towers, 19th century palaces, ancient churches, and market squares is a pleasure, but there’s much more to do here. After exploring all that the city has to offer with a local guide, you’ll be able to make the most of your time. You could also take a guided bike tour around the city, to get a little exercise as you experience the city. But you’ll also want to explore some of the region surrounding Zagreb. As a longer day trip, you could see the delightful Trakoscan, a neo-Gothic castle sitting on a hilltop, surrounded by a romantic English style park with exotic trees and an artificial lake. While you’re there you can also stop in Varazdin to appreciate its ornate baroque architecture.

   We'll arrange for a driver to meet you at Zagreb's airport and take you to your centrally located accommodation. Duration of the drive is about 30 minutes.

   

   Take it Easy

   Trade your accommodations for fresh air in Zagreb, the greenest city in Croatia. Strolling through elegant parks and enjoying shaded benches is a perfect way to walk off your jet lag. For those who need a bit more than just a walk, cafes are a great place to enjoy the city like a local, soaking in the pulse of the city instead of rushing. Zagreb's food scene has been growing rapidly, providing many great choices: choose local, traditional, modern, or even selections from the growing street food scene. 2. Day 2 Your First Full Day in Zagreb

   Zagreb Cuisine Small Group Cooking Class

   Here's a tasty tour that will have you cooking some scrumptious local recipes with an expert chef. Kuhaona is a culinary workshop whose mission is to promote the traditional Croatian cultural and gastronomic heritage in an inspiring and modern way and be a meeting point for the exchange of culinary experiences. First you will stroll through the Dolac farmer’s market and get an introduction to Croatian cuisine and tradition. After that, you will proceed to hands-on preparation of three traditional Croatian meals. You'll learn some new recipes and then sit down to enjoy what you've cooked, along with a glass of a local wine. So put on your apron because it's going to get messy and fun!

3. Day 3 Traveling to Rovinj by Rental Car / Arrival in Rovinj

   

   On this day you will drive from Zagreb to Rovinj which is about a 3-hour drive. On the way we suggest to stop in Opatija, a slice of Vienna by the seaside. If you really want to make a day of it instead of heading directly to Rovinj, detour to Motovun and maybe even Groznjan, two idyllic walled hilltop towns of inland Istria, often referred to as Croatia's Tuscany. We have included an automatic car in your package.

   Rovinj used to go by Rovigno, and to Italian-speakers it still does. This city was once part of the Republic of Venice, which is evident from the street names in Italian to the Venetian architectural flourishes, such as the bell tower that crowns the town. This laid-back spot has a full cultural calendar, with numerous festivals taking place in the warmer months. We’ll help you get to know the local culture, with possible activities like a local wine tasting, a fish cooking masterclass with a local chef, or a truffle hunting adventure in nearby Croatia. Then, to work up an appetite for your next delicious meal, you could rent bikes and cruise through the breathtaking Zlatni Rt Park. You’ll definitely want to visit the local market too. History buffs will love visiting the local cultural heritage museum, which gives great insight into the region. When you’re ready to get in the car, a day trip to Pula is always fun. This busy port town hosts a large market packed with delectable local specialities, and also boasts a Roman amphitheater. You could even arrange a full-day private tour through the gorgeous region of Istria, where more delights await you inland.

   After your sightseeing stops, you'll probably arrive in Rovinj in the late afternoon, a good time to check in to your accommodation. Relax after your drive with an evening stroll around Old Town and the lively harbor area.

   

   Local Flavors

   Looking to get into the true local spirit of Rovinj? At the city market square you can find fresh fruit and vegetable from local producers, as well as some Istrian specialties: olive oil, truffles, herbs, asparagus and local brandy. There is also a fish market, butcher’s shop and bakery there, having fresh goods daily. The best time to visit the market is early in the morning when locals are buying their vegetables and fruits for the day, and the cooks from the restaurants are searching for the best ingredients. Enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and the colorful place, talk with the locals and buy some fresh ingredients. You will take great photos and have a wonderful time.

4. Day 4 Your First Full Day in Rovinj

   

   Rovinj Private Walking Tour

   This morning you’ll be getting the lay of the land in Rovinj on a 1 hour and 45 minutes private walking tour led by a local guide who knows all the ins and outs of the place. You’ll see all the main attractions including the St. Euphemia Church, the town clock, and Balbi’s Arch. The church is a stunning example of Baroque architecture and dominates Rovinj’s Old Town, as it is sits atop its hill. Inside you’ll see the preserved body of St. Euphemia from the 6th century. This tour will introduce you to the rich history of Rovinj and all of Istria, as well as Italy’s influence on the region.

   Istrian Self-Drive Tour

   If you have traveled to Rovinj in a rental car, a self-driving tour of the surrounding region of Istria is an excellent way to spend a day. This is a place of romance and myth that is often compared with Tuscany. From the hills to the coasts you can see the best of the region on a pleasant drive, and also taste some of the local cuisine. The stops we recommend most are Pula, with its ancient Roman amphitheater, and the hill towns of Motovun and Groznjan. All three spots have a charm of their own and really show off the best of the region's architecture, landscape, and cuisine.

5. Day 5 Traveling to Plitvice by Rental Car / Arrival in Plitvice

   

   Today we suggest an early start. The UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Plitvice Lakes National Park is about 4 hours away and you will want to arrive there by lunchtime so you can spend your whole afternoon exploring this magnificent natural wonder. Entrance fees to the national park must be booked online at least two days in advance. If you're looking for somewhere to stop along the way, then we would suggest an early lunch in the seaside town of Opatija, it has a style quite different to Rovinj, with a Vienna-on-the-Sea vibe.

   The Plitvice Lakes are one of the most beautiful natural settings in Croatia. The national park has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1979 and it’s easy to see why. You’ll find 16 lakes here in a stunning array of colors. Surrounding the lakes for 200 miles, the park has numerous hiking trails and plenty of places to appreciate the scenery. The lakes and waterfalls themselves stretch across five miles. This is nature at its most untouched!

   Have a leisurely drive from Rovinj to take in the sights along the way. We'll advise you on how best to reach your Plitvice accommodation and with a later afternoon arrival you'll be perfectly timed to check in and relax.

   

   An Active Day in the Park

   Are you in the mood for some running or hiking? If your answer is "yes," Plitvice is the perfect place for you. With its exceptional natural beauty, this area has always attracted active nature lovers. Once you enter the park, we assure you that you will want to explore every part of this amazing place. Use the opportunity to reconnect with nature in Croatia's first national park. Put on some comfortable clothes and footwear and explore one of the four hiking trails or seven different walking routes in the park.

6. Day 6 Traveling to Split by Rental Car / Arrival in Split

   

   The direct journey time is a little under three hours but there are some interesting stops on your way from Plitvice to Split today. Our first suggestion would be to stop and visit Zadar, a town that's famous for its unique sea organ. The town of Sibenik is also close to the route and a quick detour to visit the UNESCO-listed cathedral might entice you. The other stop we recommend is Krka National Park, another waterfall-rich park on the way to Split. If you make any of these stops you will probably arrive in Split in the later afternoon, a perfect time to check in at your accommodation.

   The Roman Emperor Diocletian made Split his home in the 4th Century AD, building a vast palace complex on the waterfront that stands to this day. In fact several of the accommodation options we offer in Split are nestled inside its ancient walls. These days there is an embankment in front of Diocletian's palace but the water used to go right up to the main wall. It's on this man-made strip of land that you'll find the Riva, a pedestrian promenade bustling with life. Split's UNESCO listed Old Town is contained within these old walls and is a pedestrian-only maze that it is quite easy, but fun, to get lost in. Who know what romantic hidden cafés you might find in one of the narrow streets and alleyways? To get the best out of your time in Split, however, we recommend taking a tour with a local guide. Split is very well connected for flights, with an international airport a half hour drive away and is a popular stopping point for our guests on their way between Dubrovnik and the islands of Hvar, Vis, or Korcula, all easily reached by a ferry from Split's port. If you base yourself in Split for a few days, you will find it is also perfect located for visits to some of Croatia's most stunning national parks.

   You'll most likely arrive in Split later in the afternoon, in time to check in to your accommodation. Relax for the rest of the day, taking an evening stroll through Split's Old Town and along its beautiful port.

   

   The Right Place for Ancient Times

   The best way to get started in Split is to spend time on the former grounds of Diocletian's Palace. Visit Peristil, the palace's main square, sit on its ancient stairs, and enjoy the remarkable view. Or take a seat at a cafe on the square to order a glass of local wine and take it easy. If you need to stretch your legs, head on a pleasant walk on the West Coast and enjoy the light sea breeze and amazing view of the main Riva promenade and the Palace. On the West Coast (Zapadna Obala), you will discover an interesting fact about Split: it is considered the sportiest town in the world. Here, you will find the names of more than 80 Olympic winners from Split! Take your pick among the area's many bars for a delicious cocktail!

7. Day 7 Your First Full Day in Split

   

   Split Private Walking Tour

   With a professional tour guide, you will be led through the UNESCO-listed 1,700-year-old Diocletian's Palace, imagining what the life of Diocletian was like within the walls of his palace. During the tour, you will see the Cathedral of St. Duje, one of the most beautiful cultural wonders on the Adriatic coast, as well as the ancient cellars, and Peristil in the center of the palace, the famous Golden Gate, and the hulking statue of Bishop Grgur Ninski. This is an excellent way to get to know Split and its fascinating history.

   Hike Around Marjan

   A short walk from Split's Old Town along the Riva promenade, Marjan Hill is a natural treat. When the sun shines, we recommend visiting for a quiet break, immersing yourself in the scents of pine and the sea. Covering the peninsula just west of Split's historic core, this forested park has many scenic viewpoints and paths. Be sure to check out the hill's views of the city, as well as the mountains and islands looming beyond. You can do it on your own or participate in a small group tour.

8. Day 8 Traveling to Hvar by Ferry / Arrival in Hvar

   

   It's time to visit the fantastic island of Hvar! The ferry port is within easy walking distance from your accommodation and we'll provide tickets to the ferry based on your preferred departure time. We will arrange for assistance with your luggage. Duration of the ferry ride is 1 hour.

   One of the gems of the Adriatic, Hvar is more than a beautiful coastal town. It’s also an ancient epicenter of culture, boasting the oldest communal theater in Europe, and a stunning medieval fortress dating back to the 7th century. There’s a little bit of everything here, from history and architecture to modern culture, outdoor adventures and isolated beaches. Whether you want a vacation that’s action-packed or something more relaxing, Hvar will offer more than enough variety to please you. The longest of the Adriatic islands, Hvar’s fertile landscape makes it perfect for growing grapes, giving you several local vineyards to visit. Be sure to sample the local cuisine, which emphasizes freshly caught fish, warm bread, and vegetables grown on the island. We can offer a tasting tour at the finest local vineyards. Those seeking an active vacation will not be disappointed either, as there are several possibilities for sailing, swimming, exploring the sea caves along the coast. You can also take a hike in Hvar's many hills, or go offroad with a local guide. This is a relaxing destination with warm locals. It’s an ideal summer vacation spot.

   The Tastes of Hvar

   The people of Hvar have made the most of Hvar's warm, sunny climate for centuries, cultivating excellent wine. Today, wines from Hvar are some of the finest in Croatia, often garnering top honors at international wine competitions. Today we recommend getting a taste of the local wine culture, with a fully guided four-hour wine tasting tour. The tour is designed to be informative, and above all, fun. If you are not interested in a tour, we recommend lunch in town at Konoba Dalmatino where you will get a taste of great local food and wine.

9. Day 9 Your First Full Day in Hvar

   

   Vis Blue Cave Group Speedboat Tour

   This tour is a great way to experience life on the Adriatic. Your tour starts from the Hvar port and from there you will first be taken to the islet of Bisevo, the location of the gorgeous Blue Cave, which is stunning. You'll continue to Stiniva, beautiful bay on Vis Island. There will be time for strolling around and enjoying the Adriatic Sea. On the return trip you'll stop for a swim along the Pakleni islands.

10. Day 10 Traveling to Dubrovnik by Ferry / Arrival in Dubrovnik

    

    It is time to visit Dubrovnik, the city on the sea that you've heard so much about. Your representative will provide tickets to the morning ferry, meaning you'll arrive in Dubrovnik in time to enjoy most of the afternoon in the city. Duration of the drive is about 3,5 hours.

    This ferry service is the fastest and most convenient way to get to Dubrovnik but if you would prefer taking the opportunity to see some sights along the way, for additional fee there's an option of going first to Split by ferry and taking a private transfer from there. If you choose, you can stop along the way, perhaps to explore Ston, the oyster capital of Croatia, or the city of Mostar in Bosnia. Please note that this is a full day transfer.
    

    Dubrovnik offers an unusual blend of modern culture and ancient traditions. Marble-smooth polished limestone streets, a labyrinth of alleyways, and breathtaking architecture compose the unique atmosphere of the Old Town. You’ll experience a true variety of sightseeing, leisure, and outdoor adventures here. Dubrovnik’s most stunning feature is the 82-foot tall city wall which extends more than a mile. Game of Thrones fans will be in luck, as we offer a special tour to local set locations. King’s Landing never looked so good! There’s a rich selection of live performances for music lovers here, as concerts are performed daily, and in July and August the Dubrovnik Summer Festival of music, theatre and dance brings incredible performers from around the world. The nightlife is also exciting, with restaurants, cafes and bars that will keep you socializing until dawn. You’ll be staying in beautiful accommodation within short walking distance to all the major sites, so you’ll be able to sample a little of everything. But there are also several exciting day trips and cruises to enjoy. From kayaking through hidden coves to an authentic Croatian cooking class, vineyard tours, and trips as far afield as Montenegro, you’ll have more than enough to fill your itinerary.

    Upon your arrival to the Dubrovnik port, our driver will wait for you and take you to your accommodations. The drive from the port to the city takes about 20 minutes.

    Discover the beauty of Dubrovnik while strolling down its cobbled streets and have a drink on the main street, where you can simply sit back and observe the world bustling around you. Head to the beloved local spot, Gradska Kavana Arsenal Restaurant, and you'll instantly feel like you've entered a living piece of history. It is a must-visit spot for anyone wanting to soak up the city's authentic vibe. And then there's the secret garden M'arden – a hidden gem nestled within the ancient city walls. 11. Day 11 Your First Full Day in Dubrovnik

13. Day 13 Departure Day

    A driver will pick you up at your Dubrovnik accommodation and drop you off at the airport for your departing flight. Duration of the drive is about 30 minutes.
