In Fort Imperial on Srđ hill, be sure to check out the Museum of Contemporary History's "Dubrovnik in the Homeland War 1991-1995" exhibit. During the fighting in the 90s, the fort was Dubrovnik's first line of defense, and a symbol of its defenders. In the St. John fortress, visit the Dubrovnik Maritime Museum containing objects, paintings and documents related to the most important activity in the history of the city - maritime trade.
