Frequently Asked Questions about travel to Sibenik
How many days should I spend in Sibenik?
At least two. Between the UNESCO-listed cathedral, the fortresses, and myriad day trip options, there's enough to keep you occupied for at least a couple of days.
Where's best, easiest, and safest to get some local currency in Sibenik?
The easiest and the safest way to get kunas (HRK) would be withdrawing money from local ATMs. There are many ATMs in the center of Sibenik. Try to avoid blue-yellow Euronet ATMs and use only bank-related ATMs. There are also several banks and exchange offices in the town center. In general, banks will give you a better exchange rate than exchange offices, and both may or may not charge a commission accordingly.
How much should I expect to spend per person per day?
A proper meal with a drink costs around $20 per person. Tickets for the town museum cost around $5 per person. A combined ticket for St. Michael's and Barone Fortresses costs around $11 per person.
How do I get around?
The old town of Sibenik is small and you can walk everywhere. Taxi in Sibenik is rarely needed, but in case you do need one, we can recommend reliable taxi companies. Uber and Bolt are available in Sibenik. If you decide to order one, don't be surprised when they arrive with the taxi sign on top (it's the law).
Are there any cultural venues to visit?
In summer months, the town museum is open every day from 8 am (10 am on Saturdays and Sundays) until 8 pm. Both fortresses are open every day except Mondays, from 9 am until 8 pm.
Where can I go shopping?
There are several small shops in the old town selling local products and high-quality goods.
Is Sibenik safe? Are there any tips on things to avoid, or places where you should be careful?
Sibenik is generally a safe town, but as in many other tourist destinations, you should be aware of pickpockets. Sibenik's beaches can get pretty busy in summer, so you should be careful about where you leave your belongings.
What are the options for people with dietary restrictions and intolerances?
There are good options for pescatarians and many restaurants have vegetarian and vegan options on their menus. SHE Bio Bistro & Rooftop Bar serves fresh vegetarian food and there are also some vegan and gluten-free options. It also ranks as one of the best restaurants in Sibenik.
