What's the best location to stay at in the Wachau Valley?
We suggest to book a hotel either in Melk or in Krems an der Donau as these towns are probably the best for this purpose.
What's the best way to get around in the Wachau Valley?
There are a couple of ways to enjoy the beautiful sights and towns in the Wachau Valley. First and foremost, especially if you are in a good shape, renting a bike for a couple of days is an excellent idea to get around as there are good quality roads along the river. Secondly, using the cruise that runs between Melk and Krems is also a good idea. Be sure to plan ahead though, as there are only two cruises per day.
And lastly, if you are arriving by car, it could be the fastest way to get around.
Is it worth staying more than one night in the Wachau Valley?
It strongly depends on what type of trip you are looking for. In case you would like to have a more active trip with lots of walking, hiking or biking, then the answer is definitely yes, as the Wachau Valley offers a lot for people who are looking for such trips. But if you prefer sightseeing, then even just a short stop is enough in Melk for example.
